I started The Rising Stars Tutoring because I believe a tutor’s role is more than just to help with homework or prepare for a test. Students thrive when they feel supported, safe to make mistakes, and encouraged by someone who genuinely cares.
I’ve always been passionate about science, which is what led me to complete my Bachelor of Science in Chemical Biology with Honours and Distinction. I love sharing that passion with students, helping them connect with what they’re learning and feel supported and confident.
I earned my degree in Mechanical Engineering with Distinction, and for over eight years I’ve tutored students from elementary through university levels in math, science, and writing. I love adapting my approach to each student and breaking complex concepts into steps that are easier to understand.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Philosophy. I love figuring out how each student learns best and adjusting my approach so everything feels clear and manageable.
I tutor math from Grade 8 up to Calculus IV, and I’ve been a teaching assistant for Calculus I to IV at UVic. I avoid giving direct answers, so students get into the habit of exploring problems on their own and become confident in their own line of reasoning.
I’m working on a BSc Honours in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics at UVic, and I lead review sessions for first- and second-year chemistry students. I know chemistry and math get a bad rep, and I want to show students that even when they’re difficult, these subjects can be fun and useful.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, and most recently earned my Bachelor of Education. I really enjoy teaching one-on-one so that I can learn how students learn best and break down complex concepts into manageable, understandable steps.
I completed a thesis-based MSc in Biophysics at the University of Guelph, after an Honours BSc in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. I like to figure out not only what students want help with, but how best to get there, and I’m most interested in teaching first-year physics and calculus.
